I live in Cardiff, Wales, UK with my husband of 13 years and our two daughters. I have a phD in Cosmology and for 10 years wrote crosswords for puzzle magazines. I began my photography journey during lockdown as a way to help my mental health, and it quickly became a passion. I worked hard to learn as much as I could, hone my skills, and develop a unique creative voice. I now work as a photographer and photography mentor and love having the opportunity to share my knowledge and skills with you all.

My work is a blend of nature, storytelling, and creativity, showcasing the beauty of our world through the use of colour, light, and blur in my ethereal, pretty style. It doesn’t really fit into a box and I love that! As well as all kinds of nature and my children, I’ll also shoot food, still life, some street, some astro, the occasional self portrait and honestly anything that I find inspiring! I love incorporating creative techniques into my photography to create images that are unique and enchanting. You’ll often find me freelensing, reverse freelensing, creating double exposures, shooting through things, and experimenting with light and colour overlays.

I love coffee, red wine and chocolate. I’m an introvert, but I also love to spend time with people – just in small doses. I get cabin fever if I have to spend a whole day stuck inside. I love to be outdoors in nature, enjoy exercising and do CrossFit 4 times a week. I don’t get as many opportunities these days, but I also love to travel. I’ve toured New Zealand, India and Nepal, and have about a million other places on my bucket list for “one day”.

I shoot with a Canon 5D mark IV - a full frame DSLR. My favourite lenses are my Canon 50mm 1.4, for its versatility and compactness, and my Canon 100mm macro 2.8, a beautiful lens for both macro and portrait work. I also have a Sigma Art 24mm 1.4 that I use primarily indoors and for wider outdoor scenes. I'm proud to be a Lensbaby Trailblazer and love using my collection of Lensbaby lenses. I have a Velvet 56, Velvet 28, a Composer Pro II with Sweet 50, Edge 80, Edge 35 and Double Glass II optics. I also have the Lensbaby Omni Filter System, with the Color, Universal and Shapes Expansion packs. Lastly, I have a Helios 44-2 and some macro extension tubes.

I use both Lightroom and Photoshop to transform my work from raw photos into visually captivating images, infusing them with my artistic touches and bringing my creative vision to life.
